Bike Check: Daniel’s Custom Mash Reyes
When Mash first released the “Mash Reyes,” I wasn't fully on board with both of the paint options being so monochrome. The orange accents were great, but I was yearning for something with a bit more energy.
Can't say I was disappointed when I first saw Daniel's custom-painted masterpiece in a dazzling neon pink. Like a pop art sculpture surfing the city and electrifying the streets, today we'll see that there isn't such thing as “too much pink.”
I’m gonna be honest, this is the Mash Reyes that made me wanna buy one of these. Admittedly, if I don’t even really do tricks or whatever, that bike made me want to try jumping over anything I could find, but let’s see what made me feel that way.
Daniel's overall aesthetics, with pink accents like the chainring and Phil Wood hubs, couldn’t be more on point. Sugino 75 and a “normal” chainring, made the experience of riding Daniel’s Mash, far more enjoyable than a BMX style crank… for me at least. I already see FGFS riders getting mad, I have nothing against cranks that weight like dumbbells and always come loose. My loyalty just lies with square taper and 144 bcd.
BMX pedals and thick straps because it’s just the way it is in Fixed Gear Freestyle, and some very wide Velocity rims to fit meaty 38c tires. The high stack and short stem is a clear invitation for some tasty bar spins, and a comfy saddle for the big landings. Because it's still a proper FGFS bike, after all.

It’s too bad I didn’t get as much information as I wanted on this build. It’s a bike check on the shorter side, but at least you get to see a few cool shots of this custom Mash Reyes. Looking forward to getting more USA bike content as I travel to the East Coast this summer. Get your builds ready!
Can’t go wrong with pink!
