[Video] Leica SL (Typ 601) The Affordable Way Into Leica Full Frame

Now more than a decade old, the original Leica SL is a camera I’d wanted to put to the test for a long time. When the opportunity finally presented itself, I went hunting for a bargain and brought home this unapologetically brutalist piece of kit.

As always, we’re bringing cameras and bicycles together, as I took the SL out on a wet day in Tokyo to photograph this beautiful Bianchi Pista concept. But with rain falling, pavement shining, and no real shelter in sight, yes, the camera got soaked. Months later, it is still working perfectly, so I guess the weather sealing is really something!

Enjoy the video!
