More Cool Bikes From Bike Lore
You already know what time it is! Another Bike Lore, another collection of cool bike builds I’ve been hunting around the event. And this time we truly have a bit of everything: Hand made gravel, cargo bike prototype, vintage mtb and even Fixedgear Freestyle machines. So let’s dive in!
Yanagi Cycles
Starting off strong with this custom build from Yanagi Cycles, based in Kamagawa. This mad-max looking touring machine embodies every framebuilder's dream if you look at it more than 5 seconds. You’ll find; track ends with a derailleur hanger, a curved seat tube, and tight geometry, all wrapped in a raw finish. The highlight? An incredibly striking handmade truss fork, elevating this bike to another level.
16” Cargo Bike Prototype
Next up, another raw beauty—this 16” cargo bike that bears sort of a resemblance with “Le Petit Porteur”, but in my opinion, is way cooler. Featuring a 1x drivetrain with an internal gear hub, a custom frame bag for a perfect fit, and a dynamo hub up front. But the best part? The cockpit, which is straight out of a Brompton is completely foldable! Remove the towering seatpost, stand the bike vertically on the skateboard wheels hanging from the rear rack, and you've got the most compact foldable cargo bike I've ever laid eyes on.
True Love Cycles Roadkill All-Road
This absolutely stunning Roadkill All-Road by True Love Cycles is outfitted with some exceptional components, but the standout element has to be the custom top cap, handcrafted by the owner, aka @sukiyaki_bikes. These hand-carved pieces are one-of-a-kind and, in my opinion, completely worth the price. A beautiful touch for anyone looking to add authentic Japanese craftsmanship to their build.
Stratos FGFS Prototype No.2
The NJS builder based in Tokyo has dug into the archives to revive an old prototype for a fixed-gear freestyle frame. With clearance up to 38C and a front end designed to be fully barspin-friendly, this bike definitely deserves its place in the Trick Track Hall of Fame alongside the Yamaguchi CMX. Will the project be fully revived so you could order one? Chances are low, but not zero…
Bonus: IF mtb, Coupled Geekhouse, and GT Tequesta…
I can't go into detail about every amazing bike I saw at the event, but I can share a gallery featuring a few more standout builds. Among them is this very patriotic Independent Fabrication MTB, a bike-polo frame by Geekhouse fitted with S&S couplers and ready for some tracklocross action, or this flamboyant GT Tequesta.
Steel is extra real this year!
