Bike Check: Benoît-Joseph (BJ)’s Brother Allday

Back from the woods

As time goes by, the way you cycle evolves and so does your taste in bikes. This is what happens when someone coming straight from mountain biking decides to move into the city and needs the ultimate fun commuter: A clean build based on the delightful Brother Cycle Allday, a “do it all” track frame we discussed in the first episode of the podcast. his city reaper is perfectly fine on the Parisian pavement, meaning It’d also be a nifty tool on gravel roads and single tracks. Let’s see what makes it such an easy ride.

The Bother Allday is an affordable option if you’re on the hunt for a track frame that can fit big tires. Especially if you live in Europe, you can expect a retail price of around €500 with shipping. A good deal if you ask me!

Apart from the flamboyant copper frame, it’s all black. Because black is simple and who doesn’t like simplicity? Let’s start with the now quite popular Nitto bullmoose bar on top of one of my favorite parts: Mash’s lens spacers! The Nitto Bullmoose bars are so comfy! Even if quite heavy, they make up for it by achieving a smooth look that will definitely fit most steel frames. Add to this a Hope headset to grab those extra MTB vibes. All of these parts tie the clean and functional cockpit together. On a more “rubbery” note... Hard to not notice the pair of hefty Gravel Kings EXT Plus in the 38c variant, resting on a pair of HplusSon Archetype laced to MentalBMX track hubs. A classic but solid wheelset choice, and practical as well since BJ decided to run free gear for his daily use but always with the option to switch to fixed when he needs that extra dose of spice. The Pelago commuter is, as its name indicates, a good and solid commuting rack. A good choice for a daily but don’t be too concerned about the weight since they tend to be on the heavy side. (One full kilo in total!)
