An Unexpected Snowy Journey
As temperature drops and my hands start to regret every outside journey, my friends and I were starting to crave some snowy action! Even a little bit would do, but snowy days in Paris are a rare sight nowadays. I'd like to say that I woke up one morning staring at Paris covered in it's shiny white coat, but in all honesty, I looked up the weather forecast everyday for the past few weeks. And this Saturday was it! It snowed all night and we wanted to be the first digging in, so a few of my friends and I decided to meet early in the morning to hit up the closest bit of forest for some tracklocross action.
Running a small ratio on super slippery surfaces is definitely a blessing! Add the literal trap that is the snow covering everything, from rocks and mud to frozen puddles and you’ve got yourself a fun time. Like we discussed in the first episode of the podcast, we all went with big tires to get as much grip as we could grab on this “interesting” terrain. Easier said than done since we were gripping more dirt and slush than the ground itself. Tracklocross is already a fun experience by itself but when you add snow, mud and friends to the mix, it’s clearly something else!

Mini Adventures are the Best!
Taking my fixed gear on an unexpected journey like this one is the best part about riding fixed gear bikes. It can be a weekend trip, meeting a bunch of riders or even weather conditions that will define your next adventure. And those are usually the ones you tend to remember. You can see a small collection of shots I took on my Nikon 35Ti with 200 ISO film during that session and so many of them came out beautifully.
This is the kind of vibe I want to share through these little reports that are not a guide or someone’s bike-check. Just sharing some good experiences to push anyone that feels confident on a track bike (or any sort of bike to be honest…) to go outside, meet friends, and explore outside of your usual cycling routes.
