Shooting a BMX Jam Is No Easy Job…
At the start of summer, during a packed weekend in Paris, I was just finishing a shoot when my friend Diego called, urging me not to miss the closing moments of a massive BMX jam. Curious, I made my way to what has become something of a reference spot for 20” riders in the French capital, and within minutes I found myself reaching for my camera.
I have rarely approached a BMX contest with any real seriousness, and as expected, it turns out this is not something you master on the first try. I have also been following @ermess_’s work for some time, and this only deepened my respect for the level of commitment this kind of practice demands, especially with a fully manual lens in hand. To me, the classical way of shooting BMX is with a wide-angle lens and a flash, but I only had my 90mm on me, so I decided to adapt and just work with what I had. In the end, this is only a small selection from that evening, so enjoy the gallery.
