Here’s to Another Lap Around the Sun.
We made it. Another 365 days of cycling, photography, projects, new friends, and everything that shaped an unforgettable 2025. Cheers to that, and cheers to all the future memories waiting for us in 2026.
As tradition goes, I of course want to wish everyone a Happy New Year, but I also want to take a moment to write a few words about SSS itself.
Slow Spin Society will soon be entering its sixth year, and I’ve never been shy about showing how this platform is in a constant state of mutation, sometimes going deeper into one subject, sometimes branching out into other ways of riding, and of course, sometimes failing to produce what I had envisioned. 2025, for example, saw me covering much more gravel cycling, cargo bikes, and even release a full story about BMX.
But after talking with many of you, spending hours listening to your stories, and hearing your visions of what SSS is or could be, it felt important to bring one thing back to the center of it all.
It started with fixed gear, and it will always sit at the core of what I (and eventually we) do here at SSS.
Track bikes are, to me and to many others, the ultimate tool for freedom and discovery. They’re often at the heart of friendships that last a lifetime, and SSS is not abandoning fixed gear…. Ever. But as a bike nerd who’s been part of track culture for well over a decade, I can’t help but want to share the things that resonate deeply with me, and that I believe might resonate with you too. Framebuilding is incredible, some gravel bikes are essentially track bikes built for dirt, BMX becomes wildly fun once you truly get into it, and there’s so much more out there to explore.
Track bikes are the pillar on which all of this was built, and you can be sure it’ll stay that way.
So, again, Happy New Year everyone. Let’s make 2026 the best one so far, but always, by taking it at our own pace.
