Micro-Review: NYLAARN Sunglasses

If you've met me before, you're probably aware that I very frequently wear sunglasses for many reasons. And it's during a recording session with Aaron Panone in Amsterdam, that he generously gifted me a pair of his Nylaarn sunglasses. So after a few weeks of dailying them, I'd like to share my thoughts and impressions on the Nylaarn “Lawnmowers”!

When they were first released, I liked the shape of them, but I was pretty sure that this kind of frame would be too big for my head… Well, turns out they are large sunglasses but let me explain why.
The Nylaarn are right in between a normal pair of sunglasses and something more sporty that you would wear on a ride. (Oakley Sutro, Jawbreaker, even Pit Viper for the bravest among us.) Giving you almost unrestricted peripheral vision, along with great UV cover for those pesky side rays. Of course, they don’t warp around your face like a pair of cycling sunglasses, but for daily riding, it’s more than enough. I find them very comfy, and I have no problem wearing them all day long, even while taking pictures.

You’ll find most of the specs on the website, be here are some that matter to me.

  • The Nylaarn frames are made of a bio-based nylon polymer manufactured in the USA.  Eco-friendly and super durable!

  • If you scratch the lenses, you can find replacements, again, on the 44rn.com

  • Machined Titanium screwless hinges for that bit of bling.

  • The Lawnmower variant has a lot of features. Including: Anti-reflective coatings to prevent glare. High-tech oleophobic coatings to reduce smudging from oils and liquids. A subtle black mirror coating with a polarized filter. And gradient tint, allowing you to have a clear view of the road while being darker on the higher part of the lens.

Overall, they became almost instantly my riding glasses. Light, durable, eco-friendly, and designed by someone that we love, they check all the right boxes for me.
