Build 24/30

Material and Manufacturing quality 8/10
Paint and Finish 8/10
Weight 7/10

First introduced in 2003, the CAAD5 was Cannondale’s first track bike offering since the original 1992 Cannondale Track. The frame stays true to Cannondale’s philosophy, featuring oversized aluminum tubing, high-quality welds, and a lightweight build at around 1.3 kg. In my opinion, the original CAAD5 Track has one of the best paint jobs out there, with its awesome silver, red, and yellow theme. There is also a Major Taylor edition in white, red, and black that you probably want to check out.

Geometry and sizing 7/10
Versatility 6/10
Handling and comfort 5/10

If you’re looking for a CAAD5 expecting the same aggressive geometry as the OG Cannondale Track, let me stop you right there. This bike leans much closer to road geometry, and with a max tire clearance of 25c, it’s really only suited for long rides. It rides fine, but it never really clicked with me when I owned one.
I ended up passing it on to a friend not long after.

Value 11/30

Price 6/10

Used Market 5/10

They’re hard to find, though not necessarily overpriced. But for the same money, there are plenty of other options out there. You can also find the Cannondale Capo that is virtually the same bike but manufactured in Taiwan. Usually a bit cheaper but with less desirable paintjobs.

SSS Factor 5/10

Not really for me even if I love the paintjob.
