July’s Recap!
Alright, alright! I’ll spare you the traditional “It’s been a busy month at SSS” because, truthfully, I’ve been running out of time to even write this. The Weis event took up just about all of my availability, but don’t worry, you’ll hear all about it in an article coming very soon. With summer in full swing, it’s great to see everyone going on long rides, group rides, adventures, and events! Keep it going, keep spreading good vibes, you people are doing an awesome job!
In the meantime, I want to take a quick second to thank all the new supporters on Buy Me a Coffee. I’ve got some exciting updates coming soon about the future of SSS. So if you want to be part of the adventure and help keep this project rolling, click that cup and support Slow Spin Society, for the price of one cappuccino a month!
☕
So without further ado, let’s get into what happened on SSS this past month!
We kicked things off with François’s picks for the summer! From his bikes and camera to his glasses and everyday carry, it’s a laid-back look at the objects that shape his season. You might just find something new to bring along on your own summer adventures.

Next up are my impressions of The Swoops! This blend of brands makes, in my opinion, one of the best deals out there right now for a bike this unique, especially considering how many high-end components it comes with. The Swoops is a solid platform for your next commuter, and this article dives into exactly why.

Ultracycling is hard! But some people seem to enjoy making it even harder! Whether it’s on a ’90s mountain bike, a 20” Brompton, or even a cargo bike, I snapped some shots of the most interesting rigs spotted out at Desertus Bikus.

Like almost every month, here’s your dose of cycling history, this time with Romario’s Rossin Futura, originally built for the USSR national team. Yet another bike the UCI wasn’t exactly a fan of… but one we’re pretty obsessed with.

A new concept this month: Compact Vision! It’s a bike that YOU can shape. Starting with a 20” minivelo as the base, the rest is entirely up to your imagination.

Finally, this month’s Reader’s Journey comes from Minh and So. One of them traveled all the way from France to Kobe, Japan to pick up a new bike, a custom steel prototype with a familiar geometry. Any guesses what it might be?

Of course, all blog posts are up and live for you to enjoy wherever you are, in a middle of an Alleycat, or on chilling in a hammock.
