August’s Recap!
Adventures, long summer nights, BBQs… did you enjoy it all? And are you ready to get back into whatever you were doing before? It’s been an eventful summer here at SSS, and to be perfectly honest, I’m not ready for it to end anytime soon. But it’s also been a time to create new opportunities, meet new people, and plan for the months ahead. For example, you might find me in Barcelona this September, as I’ll be attending the Tracklocross World Championships. Will you be there?
And as always, I want to thank all the new supporters on Buy Me a Coffee. If you want to keep SSS project rolling, click on that cup and support Slow Spin Society, for the price of one cappuccino a month!

So without further ado, let’s get into what happened on SSS this past month!
In August, we hosted the second Weis Galaxy Tour stop in Paris, after Japan last year. With partners like Department.Global, Mass Work, and Stolen Garage, the event mixed rides, alley-cat, parties and DJ sets! Bringing frame builders and riders together in person, beyond screens, made all the effort worthwhile!

My experience after a few months with the MONoPOLE No O1, a compact cargo bike designed for urban versatility. With its 24” rear and 20” front wheels, belt drive, and Pinion gearbox, this thing excels in tight city spaces and is easy to transport. Ideal for short commutes and light cargo, it’s a practical choice for everyday cycling.

Romario’s Textima Sprint Track is a rare piece of East German cycling history. Built by INBIKE using Textima’s designs post-Berlin Wall, this bike has all the hallmarks of GDR-era engineering. Paired with FES carbon pursuit bars and a Corima Discjet rear wheel, this build embodies “brutal elegance” in every detail.

Despite a post-COVID slowdown, South Korea’s fixed gear scene is thriving, you can see it especially in the 23rd edition of the King of Track. With over 700 applicants, the event was a total success! Ryan captured the intense racing under 38°C heat, on film, and we love to see that.

Charclo Cross is a one-day, no-frills race with fun over competition. Minimal staff, a short circuit, and a BYO policy, Charclo is for all bikes and riders. This third edition was home to many categories like Cargo, Singlespeed/Fixed Gear, and the whimsical “Slip Race”!
