October’s Newsletter

Welcome to the latest newsletter for the SSS in the month of October! Hopefully everyone had a great start to autumn and are slowly bringing their winter bikes back out! Paul is still in Japan living out his last few weeks in the city, while Amanda has been enjoying the snow and mountainous range of Montreal, Rob is busy bouncing around Europe as per usual!

Stuff to Listen to…

The first episode to hit your inboxes was the Dumb cycling trends part 2! Everyone enjoyed the first iteration of this episode so part two made an appearance. The guys discuss gear over riding, and talk about the obsession with high end colour matching cycling clothing *cough cough amanda*. The next episode delved into the world of the Bikepocalypse where Rob clearly has been spending too much time thinking about his ideal setup to ensure he lives longer than Paul or Amanda. Safe to say if the apocalypse comes we should all be going to see Rob!

Lastly but certainly not least, Amanda has been back home for a few weeks and managed to sit down with good friends and IBIKE team members Will and Laurent where they discuss the fixed gear community in Montreal, and how to deal with the snow on fixed!

The Slow spin members were blessed with a special WHS episode with the trick masters of Jball and Yena! Where they discussed how Yena got into the sport, and the way in which she built up her first trick bike.Jball talks about how many bones he has broken to get to the point of FGFS king. How many?? Well you have to listen to find out!

The ultimate collaboration hit the Patreon members screens and headphones this month, with the OFF track podcast team joining the slow spin channels! You would have thought with two of the biggest and probably only fixed gear podcasts that they would react together in a beautiful fixed gear way!

No of course not…… they talked about sandwiches

As usual, all our Patreon supporters get access to the entirety of the content we put online every week, but also to some physical goods for our top tier members

Some Stuff to Read

Two blog posts in the month of October! Both talking about Aluminum ‘track’ bikes, firstly Patricks mash AC2 and secondly about how to run your ‘track’ bike as a tracklocross bike with a swift fork change! As normal, all shot in that tasty ( and expensive ) film format.

Patricks bike is the epitome of any fixed gear rider's dream parts basket, from Sugino super 75 to deluxe titanium parts, Patrick is fully aware of how to make other people jealous.

The second blog post is a guide on how to transform that tight clearance aluminium track bike into a tracklocross machine! The blog post features two examples with varying execution. Who said tracklocross needs more than 35c!
