The Slow Spin Society Podcast Ep.12 - This vs That - Fixed Gear Edition

ep12_cover.jpg

Hey, hello, and hi to everyone reading this!

For this episode, we decided to do something a bit different from the usual programming. Both of us compiled a list of around 10 parts of cycling that elicit minor or major discussions and disagreements in the community. We did not know each other’s lists and, in most cases, stances regarding various cycling aspects. This, of course, was all in good fun and only represents our personal preferences. Furthermore, we were not able to go through both lists in this episode. Maybe this requires a part two in the future? Let us know if you’d like that and if so, feel free to send us your own takes on aspects of cycling that we haven’t discussed.

Here is a list of things we discussed:

-Dropbars vs wide bars/risers (vs bullhorns)

-Bike GPS vs no Bike GPS

-Cheap Chinese carbon rims vs ‘premium’ aluminum rims

-Rim brakes vs disc brakes

-Clipless pedals vs straps vs toe cages

-Cheap vs expensive tires

-Front rack vs back rack vs no rack

-Group rides vs solo rides

-1 inch vs 1 ⅛ inch fork

-ENVE fork or Wound Up fork

-Basket or rack

-Keep collector bikes in pristine condition at home or ride for street cred

-Stickers or no stickers on the frame

Finally, although we mentioned this in the aftershow, feel free to send us suggestions you would like us to dedicate episodes to!

As always, keep riding and stay safe! ⚔
