Compact Vision #5: Create Your Gnome!

You voted. You shaped it. And now it’s happening.

About a month ago, we asked you to help define the last pieces of this bike, its name, and its color. Today, we’re proud to announce that the very first batch of Gnomes, in its shimmering “Fool’s Gold Moss” finish, is officially in production. And if all goes to plan, it’ll be ready before the end of the year.

If you’re just joining us and wondering what this is all about, feel free to check out the articles below to catch up on the full story.

From day one, this project has been about community. We originally planned to keep this first batch to a single colorway, but we kept coming back to one idea: Every bike should feel personal. Something you can truly make your own.

So instead of locking things down, we’re opening things up. Every Gnome will come with a few decal sheets featuring 3 to 4 unique styles, giving you the freedom to place logos and designs anywhere on the frame, however you like. Kind of how Brooklyn Machine Works did.

But we want to take it even further!

We also know that this community is full of incredibly talented artists, so we’re inviting you to be part of the bike itself. We’re opening submissions for custom decal designs that could be included in the official Gnome decal sheets.

Your work, out in the real world, on bikes, in motion, seen everywhere. We’d much rather showcase the creativity of this community rather than limit things to a single in-house design. And if your design is selected, you’ll also receive €60 off your own Gnome. (Or towards other merch in the future)

So if you’ve got ideas, time to get to the drawing board and send them our way. Whether it’s bold, weird, minimal, or completely unexpected, we want to see it!

Just below, you’ll find a download button that includes a design mockup with the correct proportions, along with a blank template to help you check the fit of your artwork.

Before you submit, please follow these guidelines:

  • Make sure your design fits within the provided bounding boxes. (You can add nonfitting designs as well, into a separate document.)

  • The down tube decal must include the text “THE GNOME” or “The Gnome.”

  • The head tube design can be anything, as long as it’s somehow related to this whole thing.

  • Please keep in mind the color of the frame while creating your design.

  • Additional designs for the top tube or other areas are optional but encouraged.

  • You can submit as many designs as you like.

  • Submissions close on October 3rd.

  • You’ll be contacted during the following week to find out if your design has been selected.

Once you’re happy with your design and ready to submit, simply add your details and upload your file using the submission box below. If you run into any issues, you can also send your design to this address: the-gnome@slowspinsociety.com

Good luck to all of you!
