[Video] Summer Update 2024
Six months into 2024, and it's high time for an update on all that's happening at Slow Spin Society. What you’ll find in this blog-post and the video attached to it are almost exactly the same thing, so feel free to skip one or the other.
Podcast and New Workflow
Season two of the podcast took its sweet time to finally release, yet even with a severely delayed launch, positive feedback flooded my DMs, for which I'm incredibly grateful. Deciding to add video to the mix significantly complicated matters for Niels (who edits the podcast) and me. However, this new direction we're taking now, with interviews of guests, is extremely rewarding when everything goes according to plan. I've also received numerous comments about the whereabouts of Rob and Amanda, and the answer is quite simple. Both of them have secured new jobs in the cycling industry, keeping them extra busy. They are producing impressive things respectively, and if you follow them on Instagram, you might see what they've been working on recently.
Write-ups, News Rodeo and The Lockup
That podcast break gave me more time to focus on the written part of Slow Spin Society. First, to replace the missing episodes, the number of write-ups has organically ramped up every month. Now, around one post a week, which is manageable for me since I have the time and enough content for it. I'm not putting too much pressure on myself. Write-ups release when they do, and I'm happy with that.
With the extended time between podcast recording and release, discussing recent happenings in the cycling industry, as we did before, is no longer feasible. That's why I came up with "News Rodeo" which functions as a news outlet for everything I find intriguing within the "cycle-sphere" currently.
Lastly, "The Lockup" is a project I've been working on for some time. You can read a short piece about how and why here ➡️ [Say Hi to “The Lockup]
Future plans and Video Content
I'm not a video person. I find it difficult to face the camera, and my editing skills are basic at best. However, I believe that sometimes, the video format, is simply more effective. You can share your thoughts in the comments (on YouTube), and if you have a specific subject you'd like me to talk about, please let me know.
That's it for this update. See you next week.
