“The Craft” According to James
Today, I'm thrilled to share what’s easily my favorite podcast episode of the year. This summer, I sat down with James—also known as J.D. Cycle Tech, based in East Tokyo. As usual, the episode is now available on YouTube and all your favorite listening platforms.
While talking with James and later during the editing process, I couldn’t help but appreciate his grounded vision on frame building and the cycling industry as a whole. We often get caught up in a “nicest of nice” mentality, treating bikes like trophies in an endless competition for perfection. I’m first guilty of it, my eyes sparkles in front of bikes and builders that pushes the boundaries of what’s possible in manufacturing. But sometimes, we need a reminder that cycling is not only about high-performance machines.
Just don’t forget that a bike is first and foremost a tool of freedom, a source of joy, and your passport to new adventures.
