February’s Newsletter

Well, it’s officially been a year. An entire revolution around the sun has passed since I started this project. And I’m not gonna lie, I’m pretty proud of the work I’ve been able to deliver during these past 365 days.
Slow Spin Society isn’t too big or too small either, it has a nice community, and it’s definitely on the right path.
Through this adventure, I met even more passionate people, made more friends, and on top of all, I can see the culture growing and that’s all I wanted in the first place. So thank you for everything and let’s get into Febuary’’s recap!!

As we said in December, we cut the number of episodes by half, putting us at two shows a month.
Looking back at it, it was definitely the right move. For most of our recordings now, Rob and I have that little Friday night ritual, where we just record with a glass of wine for him and a cup of tea for myself. It is just less pressure and I feel it’s easy to hear it, especially in the extended version.

So for February 2022, we started with yet another interesting concept. Rob and I have tried to imagine our dream city for fixed gear riding. From civil engineering to bike lanes and green spaces, we went on that crazy imaginative exercise with no other objective than having fun and talking shit about people making bike paths in major cities.

We then had the pleasure to welcome Jake Ricker to the show to discuss his photography projects and his vision about the fixed-gear cycling community in San Francisco from the early 2000’s to today. A VERY chill episode if you don’t feel like getting out of bed today.

As we planned we released the first “Patreon-Extra” this month. A shorter podcast format called “Track Bike Chronicles” or TBC for short, where I invite people to talk about one very unique bike and its story.
So to start it off, I Invited Amy Danger to retrace the entire history of her Cinelli Laser Rivoluzione.
That bike literally went to hell and back to finally end up between the end of an amazing collector and talented people. TBC is only available on our Patreon as a massive thank you to everyone supporting the show and making all this possible.

Here is also February’s surprise envelope for out top tiers Patrons!

News on Slowspinsociety.com

Last month could have been under the sign of “experimentation”.
First with the wooden bar provided by Passchier and second with me trying to build my very own first single-speed.
It was very interesting to see the least but also extremely challenging to translate all of that new information, on “paper”.
Making Youtube videos is an entire style, but doing that kind of blogpost is again a very different story.

It’s been a good month and I can see spring finally picking through the sky. Time to swap those knobie tires and get back on the road!
