July’s Newsletter

Hello everyone!

Hopefully you’re reading this not too far from a pool, with a cocktail in your hand and a clear mind that just screams “Let me be, I’m on vacation”.
In the case that none of this is happening to you, I’m with you… I also don’t have a pool…..
To make it short, I hope everyone is enjoying the summer, either if you’re on holidays or still working, just keep on riding, enjoy the summer and have fun!

July was an interesting month for the podcast. Episode 60 was supposed to be Rob and Paul talking about brands and sponsorships. It kinda ended up into a series of hot takes, with Paul almost letting it all loose. Maybe, one day, we’ll have a podcast big enough to make a difference! But in the mean time, you can enjoy the rage.
Episode 61 is an important one, at least for us. Like we said in our Christmas Special last year, having a female co-host recording with us was one of our goals for 2022.
So we have the immense pleasure to introduce you to Amanda !
Amanda is a total badass, racing fixed crits on the weekends and working as the Mechanic part-time. Casually cruising the city with her 49x14, is her daily cup of tea, and I’m pretty sure she eats lighting for breakfast…

This month’s Patreon Special Episode was again a new thing we had to try. The three of us, recorded a Podcast about our summer plans, but this time with Video! Quite an interesting experience for us, and even more for you if you get to see our little recording faces for the first time.
Special episode are only available on our Patreon Page, as well as the surprise prints and stickers we send every month!

Ever seen some of those seemingly perfect build online? Looks beautiful, well-balanced, and expensive like crazy? That was probably a Blue Lug picture then. The store in itself is simply paradise for us track bike kids. And if you didn’t know if you wanted to visit Japan before. It probably turned into “when are we going?”…

Second on the blog this month is Monch’s bike check.
Complicate and elaborate builds are impressive and all that. But nothing beats the simplicity of a well-used track bike. Keep it real, keep it in the streets!

Finally, a little message from Amanda:

Hey everyone, your new cohost here. I just want to express how happy and excited I am to be working for Slow Spin Society and cohosting with Paul and Rob. So far I had a blast cohosting with them and I’m excited for more! In all honesty, I find Paul’s work to be quite inspiring and beautiful. The content the crew creates is authentic and raw, with a perfect human touch to it. Slow Spin Society taps deep into the roots of fixed gear culture, and as someone with a bachelors in anthropology, I can say that there is a genuine human aura that surrounds the content the crew creates. At the end of the day, it’s not just about expensive parts, “materialistic swag”, and posing on bikes. A big part of it, is also about the authentic people who create and ride these crazy builds and that’s the part I love the most.

Overexcited Paul - Yo, is that a freaking Lotus?!?

Intrigued, friend - Who cares! Look at this bottle holder, though….
