June’s Newsletter
We took some time off and went riding
Welcome to this month’s newsletter! We hope everyone is enjoying the beginning of this summer as much as we are. It’s been both a busy and relaxing month at the same time for us since we’ve put in the extra work to have a week off and more time to get on our bikes. Both of us had a refreshing week and as two dudes who create content on a weekly basis, it was extremely energizing to get out of the city and discover new sceneries and pathways to ride.
But we’re not stopping anything!
We just rolled out episode 21 last Monday and it’s been a blast recording all 4 episodes of this month. Episode 18 was on the revival of fixed gear culture and how we see the fixed gear scene as today. All the signs of more people getting into it and bringing it forward. The following Monday we had the pleasure of welcoming @fxd_kirby and @fpv_gonsi from @brakelesscycling in Hamburg. We had a great chat about how they film their crazy videos and of course we talked about the biggest fixed gear racing event in Europe: the RAD RACE. Finally, episodes 20 and 21 were more of the relaxed type. During these two episodes, we had tons of fun answering your questions during tan epic Q&A. And finally, to end this month of June, we also discussed common hobbies found among fixed-gear riders. Gotta get that ice-latte right?
The Extended Version is now available on Apple Podcast!
As you may already know, our Patreon supporters already have access to the extended version of the podcast. We really enjoy recording the pre and after-show, and when Apple released a subscription system this month, we had to give it a try. Now you can listen to the extended cut directly on Apple podcast by subscribing to our show directly on your iPhone or Mac. Hopefully, you’ll enjoy all the extra content as much as we enjoy making it.
Like every month, our Patreon supporters got a ton of extra content and more. In June, supporters of the show got access to more than three and a half hours of extra podcast goodness. Getting closer to our €120 goal, we’re already preparing more rewards for every tier as a big Thank You for everyone’s support in the Slow Spin adventure. Below you can see the print (but not the stickers 😉) that our top-tier patrons received this month. As usual, this print is now also digitally available.
More bedtime reading for you
Even though I was away for some time, I still managed to keep up with the bi-weekly blog post schedule I mentioned last month. This month you’ll find 2 bike checks that are really different from a photographic perspective, but weirdly similar in other ways. One is my old NJS frame that I sold a while back to my good friend @kangtheframebuilder and the other one is all about the futuristic-looking BMC TR02. Both are incredible track machines that have been used on the track but somehow now belong to the streets. Finally, you’ll find an article on my favorite Parisian bike shop and how La Chouette is my go-to address when I’m in special need of quality parts or trusty staff.
We’ve got an exciting next few months ahead of us filled with interesting podcast ideas and guests that y’all will love. We take our time to offer good quality content for the fixed-gear community and we hope that we can lead you to try different things, exploring new places, and just spending as much time as possible on the saddle! Slow Spin Society is here to stay and don’t you forget that.
Here is one last picture for this month, see you in August 🏐
