April’s Recap!

Welcome back!

Another month, another newsletter, and definitely some interesting bits to share from Slow Spin Society. The first half of April was pretty eventful, and I’m now using the few quiet days I have to think about new ways to open up SSS to more people and their stories though gust article or something else. If you have any ideas or suggestions for how you’d like to see SSS grow or improve, feel free to send me an email! ➡️ Contact Page

But without further ado, let’s take a look at what you might have missed on SSS this month!

P.S. I’m sending this newsletter a bit earlier than usual because I’ll be flying to Shanghai in a few hours. I’m not sure I’ll be able to send it properly once I’m behind “the Great Firewall of China”.

Starting with a Bike Check of Joan’s Makino, a perfect blend of Japanese craftsmanship and American style, all wrapped up in one beautiful build. And yes, I’ve been on a bit of an NJS rampage since the beginning of the year, and I’m glad a few of you are here for it.

“Reader’s Journey” is my way of bringing more voices into SSS. This time, it was So from Osaka, who took us on a tour of his hometown through photos full of movement and nostalgia.

The STOKED Photo Contest is your chance to share some of your best shots, and maybe win the grand prize in June! Digital or analog, anything goes as long as there’s some track bike action in the frame.

A special write-up this month, this bike is the one that, more or less, pushed me to tell myself that one day I’d make something happen with No. 22. Daryn’s Little Wing is probably what you’d call “peak fixed gear” and that’s not everyday…

Staying in the Kansai region, after Osaka, it was Kyoto where I decided to shoot most of my roll of Ilgocolor Vintage Tone. And as you’ll see, the results are… something special.

Finally, parts one and two of my coverage of the Mini Bike Fest in Berlin, the new pilgrimage spot for all the 20” madness happening right now.

Of course, all blog posts are up and live for you to enjoy wherever you are, hanging out at your local bike shop, or somewhere listening to some good tunes.

One More Thing!

One More Thing!

Just one more thing! If you’re reading this newsletter, you’re probably in the top 1% of readers out here. And it’s people like you, truly engaged and passionate, that I need right now.

Slow Spin Society is a full-time job for me, but I know there is probably a more efficient way to do things. If you’ve ever thought about posting photos or writing articles, this might be your chance to share your work on an already strong platform.

We can work out the details in private, so just send me a DM or reach out through the contact page.

Looking forward to hearing from you!
